STAINLESS STEEL MINING LIGHT

In the past, the material of the cap that reflected the light of a miner’s lamp reflected the position of the lamp’s owner in the miners’ hierarchy. Brass-capped lamps were reserved for foremen, copper-capped ones for managers. The structure of the miner’s lamp prevented the flame from igniting flammable gases often found in mines. A unique air intake built into the cap prevented gases heavier than air from coming into contact with the flame itself. This safety structure is no longer found in modern lamps! The mechanism at the bottom of the lamp allows the height of the wick to be adjusted without further dismantling the lamp.
